The Battle of Shallow Ford took place west of the Yadkin River, about a mile from the Shallow Ford crossing. Around 350 Whig militiamen from North Carolina and Virginia, commanded by Maj. Joseph Cloyd, defeated a local band of Tories numbering between 400 and 900.

This website is dedicated to, and honors, the spirit of the men and women who endured countless hardships, some giving even their lives, so that the ideals which established this nation should triumph.
